Aims:
·         Be able to recognize and name family members vocabulary.
·         Describe and talk about new families.
·         Recognize and make use not only of the personal pronouns SHE & HE, but also the verb to be required for their conjugation.
·         Recognize different families from another culture.
·         Recognize different kind of families from a sociologically gender based perspective
Personal Aims: Observing how children respond to our tasks concerning basic reading and writing activities in this new challenging, still enriching lesson. To assess students’ engagement and motivation through their participation in tasks introducing activities that combines vocabulary, as well as different macro-skills.

Contents
Family members. Personal pronouns (he, she, I) and the verb to be in conjunction with the grammatical constructions concerning possession. Descriptive vocabulary.

Lexis
·         Reinforce learners basic vocabulary regarding FAMILY MEMBERS – such as mother, father, child, baby, sister, brother, grandmother and grandfather-, so that they can get acquainted with this new topic.
·         Reinforce learners’ descriptive vocabulary.
Structures:
·         SHE is/HE is.
·         Pronouns: HE and SHE.
·         Grammatical construction concerning possession (both positive and negative polarity)
·         Materials: Photocopies provided to the students- Blackboard- students’ notebooks as long with the school’s projector and mobile loudspeakers.

Introductory activity- puppets video

Students will be shown a short animated video aimed at young children depicting didactically different family in modern times.

Activity 1.2 complement video II- Disney channel

The following video taken from the Disney Channel Show “ Good Luck Charlie” aimes at both reenforcing and contextualizing the concept previously specified in VIDEO 1. This 1-minute video depicts how open, as well as respectful members of society can be by acting politely to difference which are in fact, part of our everyday reality.

Activity 1.3

This short acitivity aims at discussing some of the intercultural and gender elements depecting in both videos by asking for students participation and opinions on the matter.

Activity 2

Trainees will stick six different big red hearts on the board in order to recreate the different bird families adding a single dad with children and grandparents with grandchildren.
This activity will open a discussion so as to conclude that they are all families, as well as, that a family means love and protection.

Activity 3- Matching/Interpretation activity.

This simple, but rich in content activity requires children to appreciate different families depicted in the colorful photographs. Then, after reading the very short pieces of description linked to the pictures, young learners should match one photo with the correct written option.


Activity 4-



Should the amount of time be favorable, introducing this highly entertaining activity will not only boost children’s attitude towards the lesson, but also their vocabulary.
